One of the first places my little family went to on our first trip to Alaska over five years ago was into the Talkeetna Mountains.  We drove up into Independence Valley.  The road travels along the Little Susitna River as you enter the valley and then begins its short, steep climb up towards an abandoned gold mine.  On a clear day, the view is just incredible as you look out over the valley and on to the mountains far beyond.  On a rainy day, the mystery of the fog rolling in, the lushness of the green mountainsides or the enormity of the mountains towering over you put you in awe.  It is just one reason, one place, that reminds me why I am falling in love with Alaska.

If I was to pinpoint something I was thankful for today, I would try to pick something or someone who particularly stands out in a given day.  Recently, it has been like writers block; plenty of things come to mind, however there is nothing that just seems to really grab me.  It is there I find what my heart is grateful for.  I am thankful for the days, the moments, the situations that leave me not knowing the answers, not finding the reasons or not knowing which way to turn.  It is in this place that dependency on Him is the only answer.  I don’t have all the answers nor do I want to.  Corrie Ten Boom sums it up best,

“You may never know that Jesus is all you need, until Jesus is all you have.”

When I fill the moments with my words, when I answer the questions with my answers, when it becomes about me, there leaves no room for Him.  So let me appreciate not knowing, let me rejoice when I am weak, let me be thankful when I fall short; for that means there is more room for Him.
